To think about the asthma cause and effect, numerous culprits come to our mind and the list may have dogs-cats and other pets, exercise, pollens, tobacco smoke, cold air and even a good hearty laugh. Its interesting to note that developed countries have more asthma causes than the underdeveloped countries. While most believe pollution and exposure to bacterium in dirty environment causes asthma in most cases the rich people in the society seem to have a larger number of cases of allergic diseases.

The cause of asthma is a complicated issue and the role of genes or exposure to allergic factors cannot be neglected. The condition generated by environmental conditions combined with different allergies may lead to contracting asthma. Common allergy producing factors present in the environment like animal dander, dust mites, smoke can all be causes of asthma.

By avoiding exposure to these allergens one can prevent attacks but it is not always possible, especially in case of colds, change in climatic conditions, exercise, laughter and sometimes even tobacco smoke. The same methods of avoiding factors like pollen and dust may not be applicable to these factors that are a cause of asthma. Asthma cannot be cured by avoiding exercise or not laughing, they are merely the triggers and avoiding them may prevent the flaring up of the symptom.

The polyurethane paints are also a cause of asthma in many cases and lead to occupational asthma in those who are working with it regularly. Thus it becomes necessary to have proper ventilation in the area when these paints are in use. Drastic change in diet pattern like excessive salt consumption, inclusion of large proportion of processed food and absence of fresh oily fish in the diet may also be treated as cause of asthma. Thus it becomes important to know and understand the cause of asthma to be in better control of the disease.
